ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Environmental sustainability is one of the key values for Althea. We live in this land with our families, so it is in our interest to implement sustainable practices, to protect both, the environment and our well-being.
In our vineyards, we prefer to use organic fertilizers and we follow the practice of "sexual confusion" as a method of controlling harmful parasites, instead of using pesticides. Vineyard operations and harvesting are carried out exclusively by hand.
On average, in one year, we spend about 400 hours per hectare for sustainable cultivation, against 90 hours of fully mechanized vineyards in the plain.
Starting from the 2022 harvest, the grapes harvested in our estate vineyards have the certification of the National Integrated Production Quality System (SQNPI).
